Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson says his team is ready to defend their crown at the upcoming WAFU Zone B U20 Women’s Cup in Benin.

Speaking to ghanafa.org, Sampson admitted the team arrived late and missed their first training session but stressed they’ve made up for lost time.

“Unfortunately, we came a bit late yesterday, so we couldn’t train as planned. We were forced to put in a lot of effort today to be ready for tomorrow,” he said.

The coach described the tournament as a key preparation platform ahead of Ghana’s FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers against South Africa.

“We’re taking this as a stepping stone for our World Cup qualifiers,” he noted.

Ghana will open their title defence against host nation Benin on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 09:00 GMT.

“Our aim is to win it. Being defending champions is a big motivation for the girls, and they want to replicate what their predecessors did,” Sampson added.

The tournament runs from November 7–11, 2025.
