Black Queens forward Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has urged her teammates to remain focused and finish their WAFCON qualifying campaign against Egypt on a high, despite the recent tensions over unpaid bonuses.
The Ghanaian women’s team had temporarily suspended training in protest over $9,500 in outstanding payments, forcing last-minute talks with Sports Minister Kofi Adams and officials from the Ghana Football Association (GFA). Following the discussions, the Queens agreed to resume training ahead of the decisive second-leg clash in Accra.
Ghana hold a comfortable 3-0 aggregate lead from the first leg in Ismailia, thanks to goals from Doris Boaduwaa, Mary Amponsah, and Grace Asantewaa.
The return fixture presents a golden opportunity for the Queens to seal their ticket to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), a tournament that also serves as a qualifying route for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Boye-Hlorkah expressed optimism ahead of what will be her first match on home soil. Taking to social media, she wrote:
“First half completed 3-0. Let’s go again and get the job done.”
With morale restored and home advantage on their side, the Black Queens are determined to put the off-field issues behind them and secure a convincing result in front of their fans at the Accra Sports Stadium.
