CHAN Qualifiers: Ghana deserved victory over Nigeria – Black Galaxies assistant –

Black Galaxies assistant coach Bismark Kobi Mensah believes Ghana deserved to qualify ahead of Nigeria for the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

Ghana qualified for the CHAN tournament next year after defeating Nigeria on penalties on Saturday.

The Black Galaxies won the first leg 2-0 in Cape Coast, but the Nigerians came back to win the second leg 2-0 at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

The tie ended 2-2 on aggregate and went to penalties, which Ghana won 5-4.

Speaking at the post-match conference, Kobi Mensah said “We knew it will be difficult because Nigeria is a very good side. We worked hard throughout the game and we deserved to qualify.

“Though we defended well, football is like that but at last, we were able to qualify.”

Nigeria have now failed to beat Ghana again, after five meetings, with the records standing at two draws and three defeats.
