The Black Galaxies will switch training base from Prampram to Cairo on Saturday, December 24 for the final lap of preparations for the Algeria 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN), the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed.
Ghana – runners-up in 2009 and 2014 – defeated Nigeria last September to return to the competition for home-country players after missing the past three editions.
Coach Annor Walker named a 40-man squad that reassembled at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence on Sunday, November 27.
Having spent the past three weeks in Prampram during which they defeated local sides Hearts of Oak and Legon Cities in friendlies, the Galaxies will now get to test themselves against foreign opponents while preparing in Cairo.
“The Black Galaxies will play a number of high-profile international friendlies during their stay in Egypt in readiness for the tournament,” announced the GFA
Per checks, the team’s scheduled departure time from Kotoka International Airport in Accra is at 1:35 pm.
The 2022 edition of the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) is scheduled to begin on January 13 and culminate on February 4, 2023, at the Baraki Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers.
