Caleb Yirenkyi turns down Premier League move

Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi opted against a late January switch to a Premier League club, according to Viaplay.

The 20-year-old FC Nordsjaelland standout had reportedly attracted an €18 million offer just before the transfer window closed.

While Nordsjaelland initially rejected the bid, sources now say Yirenkyi personally declined the opportunity.

His choice reflects a focus on regular playing time rather than an immediate high-profile move.

The decision also aligns with his goal of securing a spot in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The tournament will be hosted across the USA, Mexico, and Canada later this year.

The Premier League team involved has not been revealed, but the sizeable offer highlights Yirenkyi’s growing reputation in European football.

He has made 39 appearances for Nordsjaelland this season, scoring three goals and setting up six assists, and is contracted to the club until 2030.

Alexander Riget, the club’s sporting director, confirmed the bid’s value but emphasized the club’s belief in Yirenkyi’s worth.

“It is clear that 18 million euros is a lot of money, but if you believe the player is worth more, it’s easy enough to say no,” Riget told Viaplay.
