The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has granted temporary approval for the Accra Sports Stadium to host Ghana’s upcoming clash against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
CAF had instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to find an alternative venue following the withdrawal of the Baba Yara Stadium’s license.
After inspecting both the Accra and Cape Coast stadiums, the African football governing body was satisfied with the Accra venue but expressed dissatisfaction with the Cape Coast facility.
“Following a comprehensive review of the reports of the CAF independent inspection regarding the Cape Coast and Accra Sports Stadia, we are pleased to inform you that the Accra Sports Stadium has been approved to host the AFCON Qualifiers for Morocco 2025. Specifically, it will host the Group F – Matchday 3 encounter between Ghana and Sudan, which is scheduled for October 11, 2024,” A CAF statement said.
The Black Stars come up against Sudan on October, 11 hoping for their first win of the 2025 AFCON qualifier after picking up one point from two matches.
Ghana suffered a 1-0 defeat to Angola before a 1-1 draw against Niger, leaving them third in Group F.
