BREAKING: Norwich City relegated from the Premier League

Norwich City have dropped from the Premier League to the Championship following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa.

The Canaries appeared to have a chance of surviving another week, as Burnley were losing 1-0 to Watford.

However, late goals from Jack Cork and Josh Brownhill turned the game around, and Norwich’s relegation to the Championship was guaranteed.

Villa took the lead against Norwich in the first half thanks to a deflected effort from Ollie Watkins, and Danny Ings then scored a second in extra time for Villa.

Norwich were unable to maintain their Premier League status following their Championship title victory previous season, and this is the club’s record sixth Premier League relegation.

Daniel Farke was fired in November with Norwich bottom of the table, having accumulated only five points in their first 11 games.

Dean Smith, who had recently been fired by Villa following a run of five consecutive defeats, succeeded Farke and, while results and performances improved marginally, he was ultimately unable to save Norwich from relegation.

They’ve won just one of their previous twelve games.
