Breaking News: Big relief for players involved in Ashantigold, Inter Allies match-fixing scandal as CAS lifts ban

The Confederations of African Football (CAS) has reportedly lifted ban on all the 21 players involved in the Ashantigold and Inter Allies match-fixing scandal.

Last season’s Ghana Premier League between the two sides was fixed, according to the Disciplinary Committee. Ashgold won the game 7-0, with an Inter Allies player scoring two own goals on purpose.

This led to the demotion of both clubs, whereas 21 players involved in the game were handed heavy bans.

But according to Ghanaian Journalist, Saddick Adams, all the 21 players involved have now been cleared and are free to continue their footballing career with immediate effect.

This was after an appeal was filed on the players behalf by FIFPRO through the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG).

The players include Frank Akoto, Eric Esso, Amos Kofi Nkrumah, Empem Dacosta, Paul Devries Asare, Amos Addai, Stephen Owusu Banahene and others were all banned for 24 months.

Meanwhile, Kotoko’s Richmond Lamptey whose name was not in the appeal process is having his matter considered by CAS following Kotoko’s application
