Bournemouth forward Daniel Adu-Adjei has expressed his desire to represent Ghana at international level, despite being eligible to play for England.
The 20-year-old, born in London to Ghanaian parents, says it would be an honour to play for the Black Stars, a team he’s been closely following.
In an interview with Ghanasoccernet, Adu-Adjei confirmed his commitment: “I’d love to play for Ghana… both my parents were born and raised there.”
The highly-rated attacker scored his first senior goal for Bournemouth during their 3-0 win over Everton in the Premier League Summer Series at the MetLife Stadium.
He is eyeing a breakthrough campaign this season after travelling with the Cherries to the United States for pre-season.
Though he has yet to represent England at any level, his progress has drawn attention from Ghana’s Football Association.
Adu-Adjei revealed he draws inspiration from former Ghana great Tony Yeboah, whose legendary clips were introduced to him by his father.
The young forward also praised Black Stars striker Antoine Semenyo, his Bournemouth teammate, for his performances with the national team.
“I’ve seen them. How they are doing, how they are getting on with stuffs and I have seen Antoine play for them at the moment and it’s good to see him do well with them.”
