Borussia Dortmund will open its first official International Academy in Africa, and it will be based in Ghana.

The academy aims to support the long-term football infrastructure in Ghana.

Borussia Dortmund now joins a growing number of European clubs with academies in Africa, showing the increasing competition for young talent and the investment in grassroots football across the continent.

The BVB International Academy Ghana is set to launch in February 2026 and will offer organised youth football training for boys and girls aged six to 18.

The club says the academy will follow Borussia Dortmund’s well-known football philosophy.
