Headcoach of Black Stars, Otto Addo has stated firmly that his team will not underestimate Angola in the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers
Ghana will commenced their qualification campaign against their Angolan counterparts on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
“It is also very important for the spectators that we do not underestimate our opponents. Angola has a very strong team,” Addo told Max TV.
“They have players in La Liga, players in England’s Champions League, players in Portugal’s top division, and in France.
“So they are very strong. We need to be fully aware not to underestimate them. It is crucial for us to stick to our style of play. We also need to be particularly compact defensively to prevent them from scoring.”
Ghana last faced Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier as the Black Stars secured a victory in Kumasi and drew 1-1 in the away tie.
Angola have since, surged in form, winning nine of their last 15 matches including reaching the quarterfinals of the last Afcon and clinching the COSAFA Cup.
