Coach Chris Hughton has labelled Ghana’s hard fought 1-0 victory against Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup Qualifier on Friday as ‘important one’.
After a poor first-half performance, the team bounced back with more urgency but failed to convert their chances until the dying embers of the game when Inaki Willams headed home a cross from Gideon Mensah to snatch all three points.
The Black Stars tactician has been under pressure in the last few weeks following the teams unimpressive performance with his future to be on the line.
“The importance of the win is massive. We would have loved to have done it more comfortably in the first half but that’s football,” Chris Hughton said.
Hughton is hoping the Black Stars will build on it going into the second game against Comoros on Tuesday, November 21.
