Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu will not feature at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to team doctor Dr Prince Pambo.
The AS Monaco centre-back sustained a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury during a Ligue 1 fixture against Olympique Lyonnais in January.
Although surgery on the 26-year-old was successful and he has begun light rehabilitation work in the gym, his recovery timeline remains lengthy.
After assessing him in France, Dr Pambo confirmed the setback will sideline Salisu for several months.
“Mohammed Salisu will miss the World Cup; his knee injury requires nine months to recover,” Dr Pambo told Asempa FM.
Ghana are set to kick off their Group L campaign against Panama before facing England and Croatia in the tournament.
Head coach Otto Addo is expected to unveil his final squad for the global showpiece on June 1.
