Black Stars coach Otto Addo has provided some insight into the type of football Ghanaians should expect from him.
Otto Addo explained at a press conference on Tuesday, May 30, 2021, that he is a tactically flexible coach who sets up his team to exploit his opponent’s weakness.
He chose not to say whether he is an offensive or defensive coach, but he did say that his decisions are based on the materials at his disposal.
“I adapt to the opponent, I take a close look at the strengths and weaknesses of the opponent, and based on that I play a system so it’s flexible. I have many styles,” he said.
Addo won his first match in charge of Ghana after his side demolished Madagascar 3-0 in a 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home on Wednesday.
The Borussia Dortmund assistant coach masterminded his first victory against the Barea at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Two quick-fire goals from Mohammed Kudus and Felix Afena-Gyan and a late strike from Osman Bukari gave the Black Stars a comfortable win in their opening 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar at the Cape Coast Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Kudus broke the game’s deadlock nine minutes after the break after steering home a low cross from Afena-Gyan and two minutes later the AS Roma star netted his debut with a flick after meeting a Gideon Mensah cross.
Osman Bukari, a second-half substitute then sealed victory with five minutes remaining after evading the Madagascar defenders before taking on the goalkeeper and coolly slotting home.
