Black Stars captain Andre Ayew set sights on winning trophies at Al Sadd

Black Stars captain, Andre Ayew wants to win more trophies with his outfit Al Sadd in the upcoming season.

The 32-year-old had a scintillating time with the Qatari side after joining them as a free agent in July, 2021.

He has gone on to net 15 goals in 21 games on his first stint with the club – the second-highest scorer in the Qatar Stars League, just behind Kenya Michael Olunga.

Speaking on the Sports Highlights show on GTV Sports+, the attacker wants to win more laurels in the impending season, having already clinched their country’s top tier premiership.

“It was great to win the trophy, to be the 2nd top scorer of the league. For my 1st season, it was good but there’s a lot more to do to get a better season next year,” he said.

“It was a very good season and I hope more trophies will keep coming in. I believe that I need is to keep on working hard because I want to improve what I did last season whether statistically or in the game so I can help the team even more.”

The Qatari Stars League commences on August 1 as Al Sadd take on Markhiya at the Khalifa international stadium.

Ayew will lead Ghana’s Black Stars to the 2022 FIFA World Cup. He is three games away from becoming Ghana’s all-time highest appearance maker.
