The Stars have made the trip to South Africa well in time for the match on Sunday in a bid to get used to the conditions ahead of a game that Sellas Tetteh insist his side must win to “keep up the spirit and feel-good factor” after their opening day win over Libya.
Twenty-one players instead of 22 made the trip with Emmanuel Osei Banahene dropped for reporting late before the Libya game.
Bayer Leverkusen defender Hans Sarpei did not also travel with the side.
Coach Sellas Tetteh told KickoffGhana.com that team officials had been unable to contact the player before the trip even though he was spotted at the Kotoko International Airport.
Sarpei, who had an outstanding Cup of Nations for Ghana, was benched for Sunday’s opening qualifier in preference to the more attacking-oriented Asante Kotoko player Harrison Afful.
Tetteh is, however, confident he has got enough in the side to be able to hold off Lesotho and get another three points in the qualifiers.
The Stars will stay in South Africa after that game and pitch camp in Durban before heading to Libreville, Gabon for the third qualifier.
