Former Vice President to the Ghana Football Association Fred Pappoe says he is not surprised by the Black Stars failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The West African power house, for the first time in 20 years, will not be at the continental showpiece after failing to pick up a win in six qualifiers.
Ghana failed to win a single game, picking up just three points and finishing bottom of Group F.
“Everyone associated with football is not happy about what has gone on that, Ghana will not be part of assembly of African footballing nations at the AFCON 2025,” he said on Asempa FM.
“Of course, it was coming considering our performances in the past two AFCON tournament. It was something which was clear for all of us to see that things were not going on well with the team.
“Our performances has not been anything to be proud off in the qualifiers. We saw signs and the signals were clear on the wall so this is not entirely surprising.”
The Black Stars will now shift their attention to the 2026 World Cup qualifications scheduled for March 2025.
