Black Satellites receive SafeGuarding Training ahead of WAFU Zone B U-20 Afcon Qualifiers

As part of the CAF safeguarding policy which aims at protecting the welfare of all individuals involved in football, particularly children and vulnerable adults, the GFA through the safeguarding officer, Obed Tuffour, held a safeguarding training for players and officials of the Black Satellites ahead of their trip to Togo for the WAFU Zone B U-20 ACFON Qualifiers.

The Black Satellites will take on host Togo, Niger and Benin in Group A in the championship which kicks off On October 17, 2024.

The training shed light on the measures to be taken to ensure the sport remains safe, inclusive, and free from abuse, exploitation, or discrimination.

The session highlighted on topics such as child protection, ethical coaching practices and the important role the coach, the assistant coaches and management have in keeping and creating a safe atmosphere for the players especially minors.

In addition to the training, players, coaches/assistant coaches and other officials of the team were made to sign a document pledging to abide by the codes of conduct set by CAF to enforce the safeguarding initiative.

Parents of players under 18 signed a parental consent form agreeing to their child’s participation in the activity and also agreeing to other conditions set to protect them.

The tournament is set to kick off on the October 17 and ends on October 31, 2024.
