The Black Satellites of Ghana secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions Senegal in the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Emmanuel Mensah scored the winning goal in the first half, capitalizing on excellent service from Jerry Afriyie.

Mensah’s clever finish over the goalkeeper proved decisive, as Ghana’s goalkeeper Gidios Aseako made multiple crucial saves to preserve the lead.

Throughout the match, both teams created scoring opportunities.

Senegal’s Yaya Dieme tested Aseako early on, and the Ghanaian goalkeeper also saved a free kick from the Senegalese captain.

Despite enjoying more chances, Senegal couldn’t find the equalizer, thanks to Aseako’s heroics.

In the second half, Senegal pushed hard for an equalizer, but Aseako continued to deny them.

Ghana’s Joseph Opoku had a chance to seal the win but his shot was saved by the Senegalese goalkeeper to end the game.

The win puts Ghana joint-top of Group C ahead of their final group match against the Central African Republic.
