Black Meteors beaten by Legon Cities in test match

The Black Meteors tasted a 1-0 defeat to Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities in a test match on Saturday.

Croster Obuar scored the goal in the first half of the game played at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side has been preparing fervently to enter the qualification race for the 2023 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) to be staged in Morocco.

Ghana is scheduled to take on Mozambique in a two-legged affair beginning next week.

Meteors play away for the first leg at Estádio do Zimpeto in Zimpeto – Maputo on Sunday, October 23.

The return leg also follows at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 30 with kickoff at 15:00 GMT.

The aggregate winner goes on to battle DR Congo or Algeria in the third and final qualifying round of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games’ qualifying tournament in March 2023.

Seven (7) nations will qualify to join hosts Morocco for the 4th edition of the U-23 Afcon in June 2023.
