Betpawa Premier League: Ayi saves penalty to earn Hearts of Oak point against Karela

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richmond Ayi saved a crucial penalty from Evans Adomako to earn his side a point in the 1-1 draw with Karela United on Saturday.

The pride and Passion boys are yet to attain a win after defeating Berekum Chelsea in week two fixture at the Aliu Mahama stadium in Tamale.

Their hopes of halting the poor run was on track when Emmanuel Owusu Boakye scored after 10 minutes of action but Hamza Issah continued his fine form but betting his fourth in four matches to restore parity.

Hamza nearly doubled his tally as his header was on target but was well dealt with by goalkeeper Abdul Ganiue.

Karela had the opportunity to take all three points, having been awarded penalty after Agbesimah brought down Boakyi.

Evans Adomako stepped up and struck the ball to the bottom right corner but goalkeeper Richmond Ayi came to Hearts’ rescue with a save.

The result leaves the phobians in the 8th position with 10 points after eight games of the ongoing campaign.

Karela have dropped down to 14th position with 9 points after nine games.

Hearts will travel to Hohoe Park to face Heart of Lions in week five outstanding fixture while Karela face Accra Lions at the Nations capital .
