Bernd Leno agrees personal terms with Fulham as Arsenal exit beckons

Bernd Leno agrees personal terms with Fulham amid likely Arsenal exit

German international goalkeeper Bernd Leno is closing in on obtaining a new address of employment this summer, as the 30-year-old Arsenal shot-stopper is drawing closer to a move to promoted outfit Fulham.

Reports from Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg state that Leno has agreed to a three-year contract with the Cottagers until 2025, featuring the possibility of extending his terms for a further year.

Though the Arsenal keeper has agreed to terms with Fulham, the two London clubs have yet to reach an agreement regarding a fee for the former Bayer Leverkusen standout.

Plettenberg’s report suggests that Fulham would only have to part ways with somewhere between £10 million and £11 million, with Leno being the undisputed prime target for manager Marco Silva as he intends to do everything in his power to keep the Cottagers from dropping right back down to the Championship after just one season.

Fulham have already done exceptionally well to seal a deal for talented Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha from Sporting CP in a move that cost just £17 million for the 26-year-old defensive midfielder and native of Lisbon, and the acquisition of Leno could go a long way to improving the spine at Craven Cottage enough to help stave off relegation.

The Cottagers, unfortunately, did have to part ways with both Portuguese starlet Fabio Carvalho as well as key holding midfielder André Zambo Anguissa to Liverpool and SSC Napoli respectively, but the club already looks on track to replace their losses in good order and then some.
