Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch confirms Man United snub

Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch has stated that he turned down Manchester United’s offer to join the German champions from Ajax.

Since rising through the ranks of Amsterdam’s junior program, the 20-year-old has worked closely with Erik ten Hag and was expected to follow his compatriot to Old Trafford.

After losing Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata, and Jesse Lingard to free transfers, Man United are anticipated to prioritize the purchase of a new midfielder in the summer transfer window.

“Bayern is a big club. I think you have to win big titles here. And that’s also what I expect. I’m happy to be here in Munich now,” Gravenberch told German outlet Bild.

“Manchester United is a very big and nice club. But I already had such a good feeling at Bayern and I had them given my word,” Gravenberch told De Telegraaf.

Gravenberch leaves Ajax after 103 appearances in all competitions for the Dutch giants, scoring 12 goals and contributing 13 assists.

The midfielder scored two goals and added five assists in 30 appearances in the Eredivisie in 2021-22, earning him his third top-flight title under Ten Hag.

He leaves Ajax with three Eredivisie championships and two KNVB-Beker titles under his belt, as well as ten caps for the Dutch national side.
