Bayern Munich chief speaks out over Matthijs de Ligt pursuit

Bayern Munich chief Oliver Kahn has, on Saturday, provided an insight into the club’s ongoing pursuit of Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt.

Recent weeks, of course, have seen Dutch international de Ligt hotly tipped to take his talents to Bavaria.

Having evidently come to the conclusion that the heart of the club’s backline is in urgent need of reinforcement on the back of the departure of Niklas Sule, Juve’s defensive stalwart has been identified as a priority target on the part of the powers that be at Bayern.

Not only that, but de Ligt himself is too understood to have made clear his intention to seal a move to the Allianz Arena this summer.

And yet, to this point, a deal remains some way off completion.

This comes with the transfer team in Turin having refused to budge in their demands of a fee in the region of €100 million to part ways with de Ligt.

Speaking to the media on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the club’s efforts to secure an agreement for the Dutch international was put to Bayern Munich director Oliver Kahn.

And, if the German icon’s ensuing comments are anything to go by, then it would appear as though confidence is high in the Bavarians’ camp.

This comes with Kahn, after reiterating that de Ligt ‘wants to come to Bayern’, having revealed his take that, in the end, ‘the transfer will happen’:
