Aubameyang sets incredible record with Barcelona hat-trick

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a hat-trick in Barcelona’s 4-1 win against Valencia on Sunday, launching his career at the Nou Camp, after failing to score in his first three games for Barcelona after signing as a free agent at the end of the January transfer window.

A deflected shot from Pedri helped him score his hat-trick in Barcelona’s 3-1 win against Valencia, although the 32-year-old had already netted twice in the first half against Valencia.

At first, it appeared that Pedri had scored, but later it was changed and Aubameyang became the first player to score three goals in four different leagues in one calendar year of the 21st century: in the Ligue 1, the Bundesliga, in England’s Premier League, and in Spain’s La Liga.

While netting three goals for Arsenal in the Europa League in 2019, Aubameyang became the first player to record back-to-back hat tricks at Mestalla.

With his goal, the forward has also become the first Gabonese player to score in La Liga’s elite division.

Captain Busquets’ comments:

‘He is working very well,’ said Busquets.

‘He arrived with a lack of minutes but he is now getting them.

‘He added his second start and I hope he helps us like that because he is a great player, and it is a luxury to have him in the squad.’
