Ghanaian-born striker Asumah Abubakar finally found his scoring boot in the 7th game of the 2022/23 Swiss Super League season as FC Luzern whitewashed newly promoted FC Winterthur 6-0 on the road Saturday evening.
The 25-year-old first made it his second assist of the season by setting up Max Meyer to open the scoring in the 14th minute.
Scoring two quickfire goals within three minutes, Marco Burch doubled the lead in the 22nd before Asumah brilliantly beat the home team’s goalkeeper to make it 3-0.
Max Meyer then registered his second of the night in the 32nd minute, ensuring that Luzern went into the break with a 4-0 lead.
FC Luzern wrapped up the game with two more goals in the second half through Jakub Kadak (54′) and substitute Christian Gentner five minutes from time.
Asumah lasted 78 minutes and was replaced by Nando Toggenburger who was making his Swiss Super League debut.
FC Luzern are currently 6th in the 10-team league standings with 11 points and a game in hand.
