Austrian second-tier club SC Austria Lustenau have completed the signing of Ghanaian striker Asumah Abubakar during the ongoing winter transfer window.
The 28-year-old joins the 2. Liga side on a deal that runs until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Abubakar arrives as a free agent after mutually parting ways with Maltese Premier League outfit Birkirkara FC earlier this month.
Austria Lustenau’s sporting director Dieter Alge highlighted the value of the signing to the squad.
He stated: ”We are very pleased to have signed an experienced striker like Abu for our club.
“He brings not only quality and a goal threat, but also valuable experience that will help our team both on and off the pitch.”
The Kumasi-born forward also previously represented Portugal at U19 level during his developmental years.
Despite that experience, he remains eligible to feature for the Ghana senior national team at international level.
