Ashanti Region delivered the standout result of the latest fixtures with a convincing 5-1 victory over Upper West Region, while Volta Region, Central Region and Eastern Region also secured positive results.
Ashanti Region took control of the contest before the break, with Ngozi Becca scoring twice to establish a strong advantage for the hosts. Gloria Owusu added another goal as Ashanti Region extended their lead and continued to dominate the match.
Upper West Region did manage to respond through Rahinatu Salifu, who scored their only goal of the game. However, the effort proved to be no more than a consolation as Ashanti Region completed a comprehensive 5-1 success.
The result marked the most emphatic win among the latest round of matches and underlined Ashanti Region’s attacking strength. Their early control ensured that Upper West Region faced a difficult task long before the final stages.
Volta Region claimed a narrow 1-0 victory against GFA Elite Academy in another closely contested fixture. Ganyo Forgive scored the only goal of the match, giving Volta Region all three points.
That result also had an important effect on the standings, with Volta Region moving above GFA Elite Academy into fourth position. The outcome was settled by Forgive’s decisive contribution, as neither side added to the score after the opening goal.
Central Region produced a second-half comeback to defeat Western Region 3-2 in the most dramatic match of the round. Western Region made the stronger start when Francisca put them in front early in the game.
Central Region responded through Rosemond Twum, who brought the score level at 1-1. Western Region regained the lead when Patience Amponsah found the net, leaving Central Region facing another setback.
The contest changed again when Angelina Sam equalized for Central Region. Aishatu Yushua then completed the turnaround by scoring a late winner, securing a 3-2 victory for Central Region after they had twice fallen behind.
Eastern Region and Northern Region could not be separated during normal play, with the match ending goalless. Eastern Region ultimately prevailed 4-3 in the penalty shootout.
Despite the defeat on penalties, Northern Region remain at the top of Group B. The result therefore gave Eastern Region the victory in the match, while Northern Region retained their position at the summit of the section.
Across the four fixtures, Ashanti Region recorded the widest winning margin, Volta Region secured a one-goal victory over GFA Elite Academy, and Central Region overturned two deficits to beat Western Region. Eastern Region’s shootout success completed the day’s results, although Northern Region’s place at the top of Group B was unchanged.
