In a thrilling encounter at the TNA Stadium on Sunday, Asante Kotoko clinched a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Berekum Chelsea to book their place in the MTN FA Cup final.
The decisive moment came in the 80th minute when forward Albert Amoah rose above the Chelsea defense to head home a pinpoint cross from Baba Yahaya, sparking wild celebrations among the Porcupine Warriors’ faithful.
The match was a tactical battle from the outset, with both sides creating chances but struggling to find the breakthrough.
Kotoko, driven by their passionate supporters, controlled much of the possession, while Berekum Chelsea relied on swift counter-attacks to threaten. Despite several close calls, the game remained scoreless until Amoah’s late heroics.
The defining moment arrived with ten minutes left on the clock when Amoah showcased his aerial prowess, out jumping his marker to direct a powerful header past Chelsea’s goalkeeper.
This win sets up an eagerly anticipated MTN FA Cup final clash against Golden Kick, scheduled for June 15, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Kotoko, chasing their 10th FA Cup title, will look to continue their fine form and lift the trophy in what promises to be a blockbuster showdown.
