Asante Kotoko squad will be rewarded with two thousand Ghana Cedis each for clinching the inaugural Democracy Cup title.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a 2-1 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium, continuing their dominance over Hearts of Oak with three consecutive.
Justice Blay opened the scoring for Kotoko after 30 minutes, converting a penalty after the Kumasi-based side was awarded an advantage.
Hearts responded after halftime, with Asamoah Boateng leveling the score for Aboubakar Ouattara’s team, sparking hopes of a comeback among their fans.
However, Amidu restored Kotoko’s lead in the latter stages of the game, sealing a 2-1 victory.
Despite a late push from Hearts, Kotoko held on to secure their third victory over the Phobians in the 2023/24 season.
This win not only earned them the Democracy Cup but also a ticket to face DC United in a friendly match later this year.
