Asante Kotoko may be heading into a delicate period as several core members of the squad approach the end of their current contracts.
Communications Director Sarfo Duku confirmed that players such as Joseph Ablorh, Mohammed Camara, Samba Oneil, and Peter Amidou Acquah are among those whose deals are running down.
He noted that management has opened talks with the players, describing the early engagements as encouraging despite the challenges involved.
According to him, the club is determined to keep the players they consider essential to their long-term plans.
“On our part as management, we’re trying our best to retain at least the ones that we want to work with,” he told Luv FM.
Duku added that the individuals involved have attracted interest and are understandably pushing for improved terms reflective of their progress.
“Talks are ongoing, the signs are positive that even though the players are all yearning to go outside. Five of our key players, and you would expect that they will make a huge amount because of where they’ve gotten to.
“We also believe that Kotoko has invested in them, so even if they have to go, the first step is to renew their contracts, and when a deal comes, we wouldn’t put any impediment on their way.”
