AS Roma are interested in Stuttgart winger Jamie Leweling, although there is currently no indication that talks over a move to Serie A have reached an advanced stage.
The German-Ghanaian, who is 25, is primarily a right-winger and is capable of playing with either foot. He remains under contract with Stuttgart until 30 June 2029, putting the Bundesliga club in a strong negotiating position should Roma decide to make a formal approach.
Leweling’s reported market value is €40m. Any potential transfer would therefore require Roma to commit to a substantial fee, particularly because the player has four years left on his existing agreement. For now, he remains a Stuttgart player and his contractual position has not changed.
The reported interest comes after Leweling made one appearance at the 2026 World Cup. He played eight per cent of the available minutes during the tournament but did not score or provide an assist.
Leweling completed a permanent move to Stuttgart from Union Berlin in July 2024. The deal was worth €6m, following a previous season in which he had played for Stuttgart on loan.
His first full campaign after returning to the club ended with Stuttgart winning the German Cup. That remains the most recent honour involving Leweling, who has continued to establish himself at the Bundesliga side.
Across his career, the winger has made 142 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring 19 goals and registering 21 assists. He has also played in European competition, adding experience beyond domestic football to his growing profile.
A move to Roma would represent a significant change for Leweling, but the current transfer report does not suggest that an agreement is close. The rumour is presently assessed as having a 6% probability, underlining the uncertainty surrounding the possibility of a deal.
Roma’s interest has been noted while Stuttgart retain control of the player’s future. With Leweling tied to the club until 2029 and valued at €40m, any progress would depend on whether the Italian club are prepared to negotiate a fee that reflects both his contract and his status as a current Stuttgart player.
