Zamalek will face Al Ahly in the sixth round of the 2026-27 Egyptian Premier League, with the country’s two biggest clubs set to meet on 11 October after a draw produced contrasting starts for the champions, their Cairo rivals and Pyramids.
The fixture was determined by a draw conducted using artificial intelligence, placing the headline contest between Zamalek and Al Ahly among the early stages of the new league campaign.
Zamalek, who hold the Egyptian Premier League title, will begin their title defence against Al Ittihad Alexandria on 21 August. They then face National Bank of Egypt in the second round on 26 August.
Their third-round fixture is scheduled for 31 August against Montakhab El Suez and Petrojet, before Zamalek continue their opening run with a meeting with Abu Qair Semad in round four on 8 September.
The champions will then play Ghزل El Mahalla in the fifth round on 16 September, before the highly anticipated clash with Al Ahly follows in the sixth round on 11 October.
The draw has therefore given Zamalek a demanding sequence of fixtures at the beginning of their campaign, with matches against Al Ittihad Alexandria, National Bank of Egypt, Montakhab El Suez and Petrojet, Abu Qair Semad, Ghزل El Mahalla and Al Ahly all included in the initial schedule.
Zamalek will also meet Pyramids later in the season, with that game set for the 13th round on 28 December.
The schedule means the champions’ first major test against one of the leading contenders will arrive in October, while their fixture against Pyramids will come shortly before the end of the calendar year.
