Arsenal set to make £50m offer for 24-goal striker

Arsenal are ready to renew their interest in AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham if they secure Champions League football for the first time since 2016/17, according to reports.

The Daily Star broke the story over the weekend, claiming that, if a top-four spot is clinched by the north Londoners, they are prepared to offer £50m for Abraham once the season ends.

Chelsea have a £68m buy-back option that they could activate next summer, but Abraham could seemingly be set for a Premier League return long before that.

It is added that the English international is happy in Rome, but wouldn’t be opposed to returning to London.

Abraham taking Italy by storm

Abraham made the switch to Serie A over the summer after falling out of favour under Thomas Tuchel.

And he has since taken the Italian top-flight by storm, netting 24 times for Roma across all competitions – the most of any player in their debut season for the club:

Such fine form is bound to attract the interest of many clubs, and it is easy to see why Arsenal would want to sign him.

The north Londoners did show interest in Abraham before his switch to Italy but, of course, missed out and have since had to spend most of the 2021/22 season with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as their striker options.

The pair have scored just six league goals between them across the term to date. Lacazette and Nketiah are also both set to become free agents this summer, leaving Arsenal with a large void to fill up top.
