Arsenal interested in Man City’s Zinchenko

Arsenal are interested in signing Manchester City left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko in the summer.

The Ukrainian has done all he can to cement a place under Pep Guardiola but that hasn’t been the case and he is now keen to move to a club that can guarantee him more playing time.

Reports by Jack Gaughan of the Mail and now backed up by Manchester Evening News reporter Simon Bajkowski, says former City coach Mikel Arteta is a big fan and is willing to offer the game-time and position preference that Zinchenko is seeking.

City doesn’t want to let go of the player due to the deficit they have at left-back but the player’s desire to play regularly might see them let him go after the same club was linked with his teammate Gabriel Jesus; the reports however have since toned down.

Zinchenko played a pivotal role in Manchester City winning the Premier League title in the (second) most dramatic fashion ever against Aston Villa in the final game of the season. The left-back changed the game after coming in the second half for Fernandinho where he set up Rodri for the blues’ equalizer from 2-0 down, with City going on to win the game 3-2, and Zinchenko picking up his fourth Premier League winners’ medal.
