Arsenal remain interested in Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqueta, according to reports.
As per Media Foot Marseille, Arsenal could make a move for the Brazilian this summer.
The report claims that Paqueta would cost in the region of €50m, and would provide a versatile option in midfield.
It is added that that ‘several clubs’ have already tried to sign Paqueta, but the 24-year-old has ‘vetoed’ such moves even after they got the ‘green light’ from Lyon.
One club who could be of interest to the midfielder, however, are Newcastle United. Media Foot Marseille report that Paqueta has ‘changed his thinking’ with Newcastle making ‘repeated offensives’, adding that he ‘could be tempted’ by a move to St James’ Park.
Newcastle’s interest in Paqueta was first rumoured earlier this year, when Bruno Guimaraes appeared to urge the Magpies to sign his former teammate.
Bruno formed an excellent partnership with Lucas Paqueta in Lyon’s midfield.
In turn, the South American dropped a major hint that he wants his new club to sign his fellow countryman:
“It’d be my dream. Paqueta is my best friend,” he told ESPN. “We had a relationship, not only on the field, but we lived together all the time outside. Our wives together too. It was a brotherly relationship. We still talk every day. It would be really cool if he could come here, but I can’t do this [recruitment] job [alone].”

Paqueta joined Lyon in September of 2020 from AC Milan. He has since featured on 77 occasions for the Ligue 1 side, notching 21 goals and providing 13 assists in the process.
He is under contract at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais until 2025.
