Black Stars forward, Antoine Semenyo, has made it clear that his immediate focus is on securing victories in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, before he turns his attention to planning for the 2024-2025 season.

In an interview following the Black Stars’ training session at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, Semenyo emphasized the importance of the qualifiers.

“I think it’s a good season, I got the goals I wanted and I feel like as a team, we’ve done really well so I think it’s just planning for the next season. Obviously I’m focused on the games here, make sure we win and then get ready for new season,” he stated.

Ghana’s national team is eager to return to their winning ways, following a mixed start in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers. With one win and one loss in their first two matches, the team is currently in 4th position.

Their journey to redemption begins with a face-off against Mali, scheduled for Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Stade 26 Mars in Bamako. This will be followed by a match against the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Monday, June 10, 2024.

Securing victories in these games is crucial for the Black Stars’ hopes of qualifying for the World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
