Ghana captain Andre Ayew reached a major career milestone on Saturday, making his 500th league appearance in professional football during Le Havre’s 3-1 loss to Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1.
The 35-year-old started for Le Havre in the emotionally-charged fixture against the club where he first rose to prominence.
Ayew spent eight years at Marseille, featuring in over 200 games and winning two French League Cups.
Ayew has plied his trade in France, England, Turkey, and Qatar, lining up for the likes of Swansea City, West Ham United, Fenerbahçe and Al Sadd.
He joined Le Havre in November 2023 and has since provided valuable leadership in their battle against relegation.
While the result was a setback for Le Havre’s survival hopes, the day belonged to Ayew, who continues to defy age and expectation with his longevity and professionalism.
