Andre Ayew leaves Al-Sadd after early contract termination

Ghana captain Andre Ayew is now a free agent after leaving Al-Sadd SC two days prior to the end of the winter transfer window.

The 33-year-old forward and the Qatari champions mutually agreed to terminate his contract five months early.

“Al-Sadd SC has reached an agreement with Andre Ayew to terminate his contract with the club by mutual consent,” a post via the club’s official Twitter handle Sunday read.

Andre joined Al-Sadd from English Championship side Swansea City in July 2021 on a two-year deal.

Combining 38 appearances, he scored 22 goals and provided 3 assists during his stay.

Andre Ayew has, in recent days, been linked to rivals Al-Rayyan as his possible destination.

Earlier in the month, his boyhood club Olympique Marseille were also rumoured to be considering the idea of bringing him back to Europe.
