Ampem Darkoa Ladies win historic game in Women’s Champions League

Champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies came from behind to beat holders AS FAR in the TotalEnegies CAF Women’s Champions League game in Cote D’Ivoire.

The Techiman based side who are making their maiden appearance in the competition conceded the first goal in the opening stages as Najat Badri pounced on a defensive blunder to slot home the opener.

The Ghanaian side made inroads after the goal yet failed to find the back of the net as the Moroccan side went into the break with the slender lead.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies found their rhythm after the break as they piled pressure in search of the equalizer.

The Ghanaian champions found the equalizer through Comfort Yeboah who tapped home from a rebound in the 56th minute to level matters for the Nanamma.

The forward again found the back of the net with an absolute beauty in the 62nd minute to hand her side the lead and the match winner.

AS FAR lifted up their game in search a comeback but their efforts came to nought as Ampem Darkoa Ladies held on to win their first Champions League game.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies’s second game is against AS Mande on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at San Pedro.
