Kumasi Asante Kotoko have dismissed suggestions that Albert Amoah’s return to the club was unexpected, describing the move as a strategic decision taken by Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Kotoko management member Sarfo Duku explained that the club had maintained a strong working relationship with both Al Ahly Benghazi and the player following Amoah’s transfer to Libya.
“I’m surprised by claims that Albert Amoah’s return is shocking. Such situations are common in football,” Duku said.
According to him, when Al Ahly Benghazi decided to release the striker on loan, Kotoko were the first club considered, in recognition of Amoah’s history and impact at the Porcupine Warriors.
“When a strategic decision was taken to release him on loan, Kotoko was considered first, and we gladly accepted, mindful of Albert’s legacy at the club,” he added.
Kotoko believe the striker’s return will have an immediate impact on the team, particularly in attack, as they push to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.
“We believe his return will significantly strengthen our striking department,” Duku stated.
Albert Amoah previously enjoyed a successful spell at Kotoko before earning a move abroad, and his return is expected to boost the club’s attacking options as they continue their Ghana Premier League campaign.
