Alidu Seidu signs new two-year contract at Clermont Foot

Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has committed his future to Clermont Foot 63 signing a two-year deal keeping him at the French Ligue 1 side until 2027.

The 22-year-old versatile full-back has been at the club since the 2019/20 season at the age of 19 from Cote d’Ivoire’s Jean-Marc Guillou Academy.

Alidu was on a contract until 2025 and has now signed a new two-year deal.

“Clermont Foot 63 is pleased to inform you of Alidu Seidu’s contract extension for two more seasons. He is now tied to the club until June 2027.

“Congratulations Alidu and thank you for your commitment to the Clermont Foot 63 sports project!,” the club announced Wednesday.

In a reaction, Alidu stated: “I am very happy to have extended for 2 additional years at Clermont Foot 63. My objective is to maintain this good dynamic with the team and to keep our place in Ligue 1.

“I thank all the supporters as well as the coach, the staff and the whole club for their trust. Go Clemont!”

Alidu played his first professional matches the following season, featuring 22 times in the historic promotion from Ligue 2 to the Fench topflight.

He went on to play 21 games in his debut Ligue 1 campaign last season,  16 of them as a starter.

Seidu Alidu has so far started in each game of this 2022/2023 season.

His power on the pitch and strength of character have made him one of the revelations of this start to the season. His performances also opened the doors to the Ghana national team last June. He is among the candidates for the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar next month.
