Alex Iwobi made history against Tanzania, becoming only the second Nigerian player to provide two assists in a single CAF Africa Cup of Nations game since 2010, following John Obi Mikel’s feat against Mali in 2013.

Iwobi’s masterful performance helped Nigeria secure a 2-1 win, with his perfectly placed cross setting up Semi Ajayi’s header and his through-ball leading to Ademola Lookman’s winning strike.

Iwobi’s influence was evident throughout the match, dictating the tempo with intelligent passing and tactical awareness.

He earned an 8.8 match rating, the highest on the pitch, and has now led the AFCON 2025 assists chart with two assists.
