Al Ahly have begun restructuring their squad during the current summer transfer window, with negotiations under way to end the contracts of Tunisia forward Mohamed Dhaoui and Morocco international defender Achraf Dari.
At the same time, the Egyptian club have reached a final agreement with midfielder Imam Ashour to extend his contract until 2030, in a move that underlines his importance to the team’s plans for the coming years.
According to information published by Africa Foot, Al Ahly’s management have identified their main priorities in the transfer market. The club are seeking to resolve the futures of several foreign players while also protecting Ashour from interest and offers from overseas clubs.
The report says Al Ahly are currently negotiating friendly agreements with Mohamed Dhaoui, known as “Kristo”, and Achraf Dari. The aim is to terminate both players’ contracts and remove their names permanently from the first-team squad before the summer transfer window closes.
The decisions form part of a wider plan to reshape the squad ahead of the new season and create space for further reinforcements. The club are assessing a number of players as they prepare to build a team capable of competing for every available trophy over the next several years.
Dhaoui joined Al Ahly in January 2023 from Tunisian club Etoile Sportive du Sahel after making a strong impression with his former side. He also spent a period on loan with CS Sfaxien.
The 22-year-old winger made 19 appearances for Al Ahly in all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists. However, he was unable to establish himself as a regular starter during his time with the Cairo-based club.
Dari arrived at Al Ahly from French club Stade Brestois 29 following successful spells with Morocco’s Wydad AC and the French side.
The 27-year-old defender has played 27 matches for Al Ahly without scoring. Although he featured in several games, he also failed to secure a permanent place in the starting line-up, making his departure one of the strongest possibilities under consideration during the current transfer window.
Ashour’s position, by contrast, has now been settled. The midfielder had attracted interest and received several offers over the past few weeks, but Al Ahly have firmly rejected the prospect of selling him.
Africa Foot reports that the club have reached a final agreement with Ashour and his agent over a contract extension running until 2030. The new arrangement will also include a significant increase in the player’s salary, reflecting his status within the squad.
Al Ahly regard the Egypt international as one of the key pillars of the team and a potential leader for the future. Retaining him is therefore seen as an important part of the club’s long-term project as they seek to strengthen the squad and remain competitive across all competitions.
