Ghanaian trainer Charles Akonnor has spoken about the growing tension in the Kenyan Premier League title contest.
His side, Gor Mahia, responded strongly with a 3-0 triumph over KCB at Nyayo Stadium.
The result restored their six-point advantage after AFC Leopards had briefly closed the gap.
Akonnor insists the mounting pressure is part of the journey toward success.
“Of course, in football there is always pressure, and we like it; it is a healthy one,” Akonnor said.
“The team that will have the nerves to keep going is the team that will probably go far.”
Gor Mahia currently top the table with 46 points from 21 matches, while Leopards sit on 40 with one outstanding fixture.
The former Black Stars coach believes his players have matured significantly in recent months.
“If you look at it some four, five months ago, we would be a little bit worried, but now we are very confident of how the players possess things, and how they play.”
