Afriyie Acquah says he only did his best to add to a ”fantastic collective effort by the Black Stars” to yield a famous 1-0 victory over Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The midfielder is ”100% certain Ghana will advance in the tournament.”

Praising coach Avram Grant for his ”amazing tactical awareness and technical ability”, Acquah said there is collective unity in the Black Stars way beyond the imagination of outsiders.

”The rest of the world know we are a simple united unit but in reality we see each other as brothers and love for each other is uniquely golden. This sprit can win us the tournament.”

The Parma midfielder also attributed the win to what he called the collective factor, saying, ”no exaggeration, in the Black Stars there is one theme and that is in the two-word phrase, collective effort.”

”Gyan is both a goal scorer and a fantastic captain and it’s understandable why the world now agrees he is a Ghana superstar and legend. His influence, both on and off the pitch, is amazing.”

The midfielder revealed: ”The idea was always for the Black Stars not to concede in the first half so I had to be tough in protecting the Black four. Elsewhere, my colleagues perform excellently and we won deservedly.”

Acquah, 23 and playing only his first competitive start for the Black Stars, received crediting reviews after tweeter trends adjudged him as Man-of-the-Half for his dominant display in the first half of the Algeria match.
