AFCON 2025: Wilfred Ndidi backs Eric Chelle to keep job

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi is backing coach Eric Chelle to continue leading the team, emphasizing the importance of continuity.

“All I want is that we keep the coach. We should be focused on continuity at this point,” Ndidi said in Nigeria’s pre match conference against Egypt in the 3rd plac playoff, highlighting the progress made under Chelle’s leadership.

Ndidi’s comments come after Nigeria’s impressive run in the AFCON 2025, where they reached the semi-finals despite his suspension.

Chelle has been praised for his tactical prowess and ability to adapt to challenges, including Ndidi’s absence.

The team’s focus now shifts to the third place playoff against Egypt on Saturday, and Ndidi’s endorsement of Chelle underscores the squad’s confidence in the coach.

“I’m disappointed for him because he brings so much for the team, but we are a group,” Chelle said, acknowledging Ndidi’s importance.
