Senegal coach Pape Thiaw has acknowledged the strength of hosts Morocco ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final clash, saying, “We know we are playing Morocco which is very good. We know they represented Africa at the World Cup in the semis in Qatar. They also won the U20 World Cup. We have to be well prepared”
Thiaw’s comments highlight the respect Senegal has for their opponents, who will be looking to secure their first major trophy on home soil.
Morocco’s impressive run at the 2025 AFCON has seen them concede only one goal, a water tight defence.
The Atlas Lions are yet to give away a goal from open play – a resolute defensive unit built on coordination.
Senegal, who defeated Egypt 1-0 in the semifinals, will look to claim their second AFCON title when they face Morocco on January 18, 2026, at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.
