Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan suffered a 2-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their final AFCON 2025 Group E game.
Despite squandering a penalty, Sudan secured a spot in the Round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams. Lassina Traore and Arsene Kouassi scored for Burkina Faso, who finished second in Group E behind Algeria.
Sudan’s coach Kwesi Appiah has been praised for his team’s performance, especially considering the challenges they face due to the ongoing conflict in the country.
Sudan will face Senegal, the 2022 champions, in the Round of 16 .
