Former Ghana international Mohammed Polo has called on coach Chris Hughton to give Mohammed Kudus the license to operate freely on the pitch at the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals for West Ham United in all competitions this season.
“When you have quality players, you have to give them the leeway to hold the team. You often hear people say Kudus holds on to the ball too long but that’s wrong,” Polo said.
“There are some qualities you need in the team and those qualities must be free to play, to express themselves. They can take on defenders and make things happen.”
Due to a slight injury, Kudus missed out on the Black Stars training camp in Kumasi but has joined the team for their departure to Ivory Coast on Wednesday,
Ghana are in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
The continental event is set to kick off on 13th of January to 11 February.
